Sony Store - Customer Service
I went to Sony store, located at Eaton Center in Toronto, to research about customer service policy. My plan was pretend to be a international student but the store was so crowded that I didn't have courage to say anything. So I entered in the store and started to walking between the sections while I was thinking about how I could get the information. When I was in the digital camera's section a sales consultant came to talk to me. He's name was Ping Zhang. He asked me if was looking for something. At this moment I thought that it was my opportunity to get some information about the customer service. Then, I pretended to want buy a digital camera to my sister who lives in Brazil. During the conversation I asked about warranty, return, refund, exchange, extra warranty and receipt, and I got the follow information:
1 - The standard warranty is 1 year;
2 - You can return the product until 30 days from the date listed on the receipt;
3 - If you have any problem you can exchange it until 1 week after the purchase. After this period the product just could be fixed;
4 - You don't need the receipt to be refunded but you need to be registered in the store data base;
5 - The warranty is not valid outside from Canada;
6 - The store not refund or exchange product with water or physical damage;
7 - If you want, you can buy a extra warranty. The price depends how long do you want to extend it.
I and Mr Zhang talked about 30 minutes and finally he asked me: " Would you like to buy the camera?" and I refused, politely, saying that I was worried about the warranty because it doesn't cover my country and I wouldn't like to spend money to fix it.
