midweek cycling club.
Midweek Cycling Club Inc. puts on the cycling events which other clubs use for training and is the GTA's only road racing development club. Simply put, it is our goal to facilitate your transition from a dreamer to a doer. Midweek organizes four elite races every year, a 26-week long day-a-week criterium series, an equally long learn-to-race program for aspiring road and multi-sport cyclists, and in the autumn a weekly cyclecross clinic/training facility at Centennial Park, Toronto.
Founded in 1995 and incorporated as a not for profit in 2002, Midweek Cycling Club is dedicated to road racing and development of new riders of all ages. The club has a membership of 100+ and regularly attracts over 300 participants to its elite events.
Our weekly events, held between April and December, include:
Two "Learn-to-Race" programs for youth through to adults that draws 50+ aspiring competitors per week
Every Tuesday, the famous Midweek Series, a hotly contested training criterium with turnout of 100+ racers weekly
Ontario's only weekly cyclecross clinics in the autumn
The Midweek Club also organizes several major racing events each year. The most prominent is the CHIN International Picnic Bicycle Race held every July 1 for the past twenty six years at Exhibition Place in Toronto, which Midweek has organized since the mid 1990's. The event, which includes races for men and women (from novice to elite levels), as well as children's and community races, regularly attracts cyclists from as far away as Quebec and New York State. Participation is generally about 300 to 400 riders, with tens of thousands of spectators. It is one of Canada's "must-race" clasics.
Midweek Cycling Club is affiliated with the Ontario Cycling Association, and sanctioned by both the Canadian Cycling Association and the international governing body, Union Cycliste Internationale.
