Introduction to blogging:
All references to blogging in class will include the following methodology components which will include a listening, paired activity, grammar exercise based on the Unit, free writing, peer correction and discussion.

A reading of previous blogs and discussion
Online research for journal/presentation topic
Peer editing, T. led correction, one-on-one tutoring, and modalling of all grammar and writing.

Expectation for session and timetable, counseling and classroom etiquette. [5 min]
Remembering people's names, manners, and respect in North America. A name forgotten is not unimportant, just unfamiliar and adjusting your expectation to a new country and experience is important to represent your country in a favorable way. People are good everywhere, but not necessarily the same.

What Machine am I?
List of the board all the machines and appliances student can think of. Students talk about which machines are the most important to them and why. Each student chooses a machine that is most like themselves. As a mingling activity Ss. explain and trade information on why they choose their machine and what machines the other Ss. have chosen. (See Notes in What Machine am I)

Brainstorm: Elicit from students breakdowns, breakages, bad buys, faulty equipment, and defective merchandise that they have experiences. First, in pairs then, presented to the group

Introduce Interchange Chapter 6 from the textbook. Discuss Consumer Complaints from the Chapter. List on the board the types of problems one can encounter, remember to broaden the scope of this exercise to more relevant technologies e.g. cellphone, cellphone contracts, computer software problems, bad internet service, travel experiences, hotel, airline, and food.

Warmer: Have the students take out electronic devices that they have with them. Compare with each other. Chain or Mingle Activity. Extend to a discussion about things that have gone wrong, broken, needed to be fixed, complaints about service.
1. (30 Min)
Chain Story: Everyone takes out a sheet of paper with a consumer problem or complaint. Describing a problem the T. models the first few line then the student are given 2 minutes to add a line to the story. Compare stories discuss and take up all questions.
2. (15 Minutes) Recast complaints into group discussion on stores and institutions for Journal topic. Consumer Complaints about Service. Marketing Student looking for Store Policies in different stores in Toronto.

Describing Attributes of Music:
Purpose as a Warmer and to introduce Participial Adjectives
Participles as adjectives
Play the music extracts, and ask the learners, as they listen, to write the number of an extract against any adjective that they think it illustrates – e.g. if they think extract number 4 sounds scatterbrained, they write '4' next to 'scatterbrained'. Then they compare notes with each other, and explain their choices.
Variations: Instead of character adjectives, you could use the days of the week, the months of the year, parts of the world, a list of colors, verbs for ways of walking, a set of photos of places or people .....

Theme: MILESTONES/LIFE'S LESSON.
Aims: TALK ABOUT BECOMING AN ADULT; THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED ALONG THE WAY, THINGS THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED, AND HOW THEY DID HAPPEN?
Warmer: LINE UP WITHOUT SPEAKING TO ORDER CLASS BY DATE OF BIRTH.AFTER THAT HAVE THE CLASS COLLECT IMPORTANT EVENT FROM EACH OTHER FROM EACH OTHERS LIVES excluding date of birth.
Interchange Exercise One:
DRAW A CHART OF NAMES ON THE BOARD AND HAVE THE SS REVIEW IMPORTANT EVENTS IN THEIRS LIVES WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE BOOK. It is best to elicit different life lesson's than used in the text since very few of them are appropriate for PGIC student.
Student fill-in the chart on the board in compare events and how they differ in different cultures.
Use the question in the exercise to get the students in pairs to talk further about these "Rites of Passage"
Extension:
Talk about different milestone dates in different countries, bar mitzvah, 15th birthday, drivers license at 16, drinking age, voting age, age of the majority, and then later what milestones did your parents have? Grandparents? Tell the story…Trade the story with your partner then the group.

Purpose as a Warmer and to introduce Participial Adjectives
Participles as adjectives
Play the music extracts, and ask the learners, as they listen, to write the number of an extract against any adjective that they think it illustrates – e.g. if they think extract number 4 sounds scatterbrained, they write '4' next to 'scatterbrained'. Then they compare notes with each other, and explain their choices.
Variations: Instead of character adjectives, you could use the days of the week, the months of the year, parts of the world, a list of colors, verbs for ways of walking, a set of photos of places or people .....

Theme: MILESTONES/LIFE'S LESSON.
Aims: TALK ABOUT BECOMING AN ADULT; THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED ALONG THE WAY, THINGS THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED, AND HOW THEY DID HAPPEN?
Warmer: LINE UP WITHOUT SPEAKING TO ORDER CLASS BY DATE OF BIRTH.AFTER THAT HAVE THE CLASS COLLECT IMPORTANT EVENT FROM EACH OTHER FROM EACH OTHERS LIVES excluding date of birth.
Interchange Exercise One:
DRAW A CHART OF NAMES ON THE BOARD AND HAVE THE SS REVIEW IMPORTANT EVENTS IN THEIRS LIVES WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE BOOK. It is best to elicit different life lesson's than used in the text since very few of them are appropriate for PGIC student.
Student fill-in the chart on the board in compare events and how they differ in different cultures.
Use the question in the exercise to get the students in pairs to talk further about these "Rites of Passage"
Extension:
Talk about different milestone dates in different countries, bar mitzvah, 15th birthday, drivers license at 16, drinking age, voting age, age of the majority, and then later what milestones did your parents have? Grandparents? Tell the story…Trade the story with your partner then the group.
